Getting started

How can I choose a mining machine?

There are three key types of mining machines: ASIC miners, GPU miners and FPGA miners.

You can view our PoW Rankings to view a list of proof-of-work coins. Each coin has a mining algorithm and that will determine the most suitable hardware to mine the coin.

ASIC miners are more powerful, stable and are easier to configure in large batches, however they can only mine a single mining algorithm and produce a lot of heat and noise.

GPU miners have more flexiblity mining different algorithms or coins, and produce less noise and use less electricity, however they are not as powerful and require more effort to manage.

FPGA miners are in the middle between ASIC miners and GPU miners, as they are more powerful and expensive than GPUs, yet more flexible than ASICs.

You can research suitable mining machines by viewing our Popular Miners page, and view the relevant machine and performance statistics.

What coins can I mine on f2pool?

f2pool supports mining for a large number of proof-of-work coins. You can view the list of coins available to mine on our Homepage.

Our team is always on the lookout for new, promising projects to support. If you have a coin to recommend, please email our Research Team with details about the project.

What are the pool fees and the minimum payout thresholds?

The fees minimum payout thresholds are based on the coin that is mined.

How can I start mining with f2pool?

There are two things you need before you can start mining with f2pool: a mining machine and an f2pool account.

You can research suitable mining machines by viewing our Popular Miners page, and purchase machines from verified manufacturers or sellers.

After you have your own mining machines, you can Create an Account and start mining with us.

We hope mining with f2pool is enjoyable and profitable for you.

What are shares and the rejection rate?

A share is awarded to miners who submit a valid proof-of-work to the mining pool.

There are two types of shares - accepted and rejected. Accepted shares represent work done by the miner, and the miner will be rewarded accordingly by the pool. Rejected shares represent work that does not contribute toward block discovery, and therefore the pool does not provide a reward.

The most common reason for rejected shares is latency issues at the farm, causing the mining machines to work on blocks that have already been mined on the blockchain.

The rejection rate is the proportion of rejected shares of the total shares submitted, and therefore the lower the rejection rate, the better.

What is hashrate and how is it measured?

Hashrate is the measuring unit of the computing power completing an operation in a proof-of-work blockchain. It can be used to measure an individual mining machine, a group of machines, an entire pool or the entire network.

If a mining machine is running at 10 TH/s, it means it can make 10 trillion calculations per second.

For some mining algorithms such as Equihash, hashrate is represented by sol/s instead of H/s. There is essentially no difference, as sol/s also represents the number of calculations per second.

Quick conversion guide:

1 EH/s = 1,000 PH/s = 1,000,000 TH/s

1 TH/s = 1,000 GH/s = 1,000,000 MH/s = 1,000,000,000 KH/s = 1,000,000,000,000 H/s.

What is merged mining?

Merged mining allows miners to mine on more than one proof-of-work blockchain at the same time, as long as both blockchains have the same mining algorithm.

Every share contributed counts toward the total hashrate of both networks, and as a result, both networks are more secure.

For SHA256, f2pool supports merged mining for Namecoin, Vcash and Elastos. For Scrypt, f2pool supports merged mining for Dogecoin.

Machine setup

Why can't I see my workers on f2pool?

It takes the mining machine a couple of minutes for it to submit the first valid share to the mining pool. Once that happens, the statistics of the worker will display.

If after a few minutes the mining machine is still not showing on the pool, please compare your mining configuration with the relevant Mining Guide to make sure you have entered the correct pool URL and account information.

Please also:

Check your Account Name is entered correctly

Check you are using the correct stratum URL

Upgrade the firmware of the mining machine to the latest version

Try all of the available stratum URLs and ports

Check your network settings

If you are still having issues, please contact our Support Team for assistance.

Which stratum server should I connect to?

For many of our mining pools, there are multiple URLs you can connect your miners to. For improved connection and lower latency, we recommend our miners to connect to the location-specific URL closest to their geographic location.

View our list of stratum servers to find the location closest to you:

What worker name and password can I choose?

The worker name can be between 1 to 15 alphanumeric characters long. Any letter or number can be used, however special characters are not permitted. We recommend using lowercase letters as the worker name is not case sensitive and will be converted to lowercase letters in our system.

We also recommend that you set a unique worker name for each mining machines connected to the pool, in order for more efficient monitoring.

Your password has no restrictions, as it will not impact your mining.

Can I connect my mining rig to Nicehash and f2pool?

Yes, you can mine on Nicehash through f2pool. Please check our Nicehash Mining Guide for detailed information about connecting your mining machine to Nicehash and f2pool.

How can I add workers?

Workers are automatically added to your f2pool account if the correct mining parameters are added in the mining machine interface or mining software. Once connected, you can view the list of workers from the Workers page on your Dashboard.

View the relevant Mining Guide to learn how to setup your workers.

Can I use the same worker name for multiple workers?

Yes, you can use the same worker name for multiple workers. However, we recommend that you give each mining machine a unique worker name for more efficient monitoring.

Dashboard

How can I export my mining data?

From the Revenue page on the f2pool Dashboard, you can download your historical account information, including hashrate and mining revenue.

You can export the mining data in a variety of formats, including Excel, CSV and PDF.

Why is the rejection rate so high?

The most common reason for rejected shares is latency issues at the farm, causing the mining machines to work on blocks that have already been mined on the blockchain.

To reduce the rejection rate, please do the following:

Check the network status at the mining farm

Make sure you are using the latest version of the mining machine firmware and software

If you are still having issues, please contact our Support Team for assistance.

Why is my pool hashrate lower than my local hashrate?

Pool hashrate and local hashrate (on the mining machine backend) can vary greatly over a short timespan, so it’s recommended to view and compare the 24 hour average hashrate value.

If you still believe there is an issue, please:

Check your network settings and connection

Upgrade to the latest mining firmware and software

How can I view my mining information?

Visit the f2pool Website to view your revenue, hashrate, and payment records.

For account mining, you can log in to the f2pool Dashboard to monitor your hashrate, revenue, and payouts. You can also view the information through our f2pool App.

For address mining, you can use the Search function from our website or Mobile App. The Search function can be found in the top right corner of the webpage (or from the drop-down menu in the top right on our mobile website) and from Quick View on our Mobile App. Enter your wallet address, select the currency and click Go to view the summary page.

What does each worker status mean?

There are three types of worker status: Online, Offline or Dead.

Online means that the worker has submitted shares in the last 10 minutes.

Offline means that the worker has not submitted shares in the last 10 minutes.

Dead means that the worker has not submitted shares in the last 24 hours.

Payouts

How can I view my balance and mining revenue?

The Revenue page on the f2pool Dashboard has full historical data for each Mining Account, and also displays the current balance, past 24 hours mining revenue and more.

How can I change the minimum payout threshold?

The minimum payout threshold can be changed in Account Settings. This is only available for BTC mining.

Where can I check the TXID of a payout?

For Account Mining, you can view the TXID on the Revenue page. The TXID is on the right side of the Revenue Records table. You can also copy the TXID, or export data from the entire table.

For Address Mining, enter your wallet address in the search bar in the top right corner of the webpage, select the currency and click Go. You can view the Revenue Records table and view or copy the TXID on the right side.

How can I request a manual withdrawal?

Mining revenue will not be paid out automatically if your balance does not reach the threshold. Any amount below the threshold will remain in your balance.

If you need to request a manual withdrawal, you can submit a Support Request.

The format is: the reason why you apply+coin type+wallet address (if applying for BTC, LTC, ETH(PPS+), Grin, ZEC, and ZEN, it is required to provide the username and sub-account name. For PASC, it is necessary to provide the payload.

f2pool does not support the transfer of payouts from one account to another.

Why haven't I received my daily payout?

The most common reason for not receiving your daily payout is because you haven’t reached the payout threshold. Please check the Payout Threshold for each coin.

In some cases when there is network congestion, transactions can be slower than normal. You can view the status of your mining revenue in the Payouts table on the Revenue page.

If you believe there is any issue, please contact our Support Team for assistance.

Can I pause my mining payouts?

For Account Mining, you can pause your payouts at any time.

Log in to your f2pool account, select Account Settings > Mining Accounts > Payout Settings > Pause Payouts to pause the payouts for a specified mining account.

You can also select Resume Payout from Payout Settings to resume your payouts.

When will I receive mining payouts?

Mining revenue is paid out daily if the unpaid balance reaches the payout threshold by 00:00 UTC. If the balance does not reach the payout threshold, the mining revenue will remain in your balance until the following payout.

Please view our Guide for the payout threshold details of each coin.

For BTC, you can change the payout threshold by logging in to your f2pool account, then selecting Account Settings > Mining Accounts > Payout Settings > Change Payout Threshold.

Do I need to pay transaction fees on my payouts?

All transactions sent from f2pool to your wallet address do not have any fees. f2pool covers all blockchain network fees.

What happens if my wallet address changes?

In most cases, the original wallet address will not expire immediately. If you have a remaining balance on your f2pool account, we recommend you to communicate with the exchange to know when the original wallet address will expire, and change your payout address.

You can change your wallet address by logging in to your f2pool account, then selecting Account Settings > Mining Accounts > Payout Settings > Change Payout Address.

To maximize account security, payouts are paused after adding or changing the payout address. Mining revenue will be stored in your account balance and payouts will resume after 3 days.

For address mining, you can use the original wallet address to continue mining until the expiration date, or use a new wallet address and contact our Support team to apply for a manual withdrawal.

Account

How can I create a read-only watcher link?

A read-only watcher link can be used to view the status, hashrate, revenue, and payouts of an account in read-only mode without having to log in to your account.

Read-only watcher links can be created from Account Settings on the f2pool Dashboard.

What happens if I don't set a payout address?

If no payout address is set, the mining revenue will accumulate in the account balance. It’s not recommended to leave your mining revenue in the pool balance, and if no payout address is set up for 90 days or longer, the mining revenue may be treated as a donation.

How can I secure my account?

Account security is very important. You can set up two-factor authentication (2FA) to maximize the security of the account. Once it is set up, you will need to enter the 2FA code every time you log in or want to change your payout address.

Other standard security practices should be followed, such as setting a unique and difficult password.

What is Maintainer mode?

Maintainer mode is a special read-only view where the user can view worker and hashrate information, but cannot view revenue, payouts, or account settings.

This can be a useful method to provide read-only access to the maintenance team at a mining farm.

What is a Mining Account and how can I create one?

Each Master Account can have an unlimited number of Mining Accounts (sub-accounts). Every Mining Account is independent of each other and has its own hashrate, revenue, and payouts. You can also set a unique payout address and read-only watcher link for each Mining Account. The multi-level account structure is useful for users who are managing mining machines for multiple clients.

Mining Accounts can be created from Account Settings on the f2pool Dashboard.

How to mine Bitcoin

Welcome to the multi-billion-dollar industry of cryptocurrency mining! Bitcoin was the first decentralized cryptocurrency with an unprecedented reputation that has spawned numerous copies and innovations. It remains the largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization to this day. It singlehandedly helped create the blockchain industry and has continued to have a profound influence on the industry culture since its creation.

Founded in 2013, f2pool was one of the earliest Bitcoin mining pools. Use this comprehensive mining guide to kickstart your mining career and help secure the largest decentralized network with us!

What is Bitcoin mining?

General overview

On October 31, 2008, a programmer using the pseudonym of Satoshi Nakamoto released a document called “Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System—the Bitcoin whitepaper.

On January 3, 2009, Bitcoin’s genesis block was mined. This marked the birth of cryptocurrency, a trustless form of currency with no centralized governing body.

Bitcoin uses a distributed ledger to maintain the balances of every user. Each transaction is recorded and propagated to the network, where all block-producing network participants must confirm it.

This is where the miners come into play. Miners enable the fundamental security of the network by providing computer power, or hashrate, to validate these transactions and blocks of data. They are compensated with newly minted bitcoin and transaction fees.

The economics of mining

There are some basic economics miners should be aware of in order to gain a clear understanding of the network and its revenue potential.

Bitcoin is a deflationary currency: Only 21 million Bitcoin will ever be mined. Currently, more than 89% of Bitcoin’s total supply has been mined. Every ten minutes, another 6.25 BTC will be generated. Block rewards are halved every 210,000 blocks, or roughly four years.

Today, hashrate contributed by miners is usually measured in Thash/s as the basic unit. The more hashrate in the network, the more difficult it becomes to mine a block. Network difficulty adjusts itself about every 14 days to fit the ten-minute block time.

Connecting your mining machines to a mining pool can make participating in the network easier and help you with achieving more stable returns.

What hardware do I need to mine Bitcoin?

✅ Bitcoin can be efficiently mined with SHA256d ASIC mining machines

Bitcoin cannot be efficiently mined with GPUs

💡 Some models will fluctuate between profitability and unprofitability due to changes in the bitcoin price

Hardware requirements

Today, after years of intense hashrate competition, only ASIC (application-specific integrated circuit) mining machines are effective for Bitcoin mining.

Basically, ASICs with unit power (calculated as total power consumption divided by total hashrate) less than 60 W/T (watts per terahash) are the mainstream rigs.

Typically, machines are operated in mining farms in parts of North America, Russia, China, and other regions that can offer low electricity prices. Lower electricity prices mean lower operating costs and better profit margins. Many mining farms provide plug-and-play solutions, including device purchasing, hosting, transportation, deployment, maintenance, and so on.

If it is not feasible for you to purchase a mining machine or spend time maintaining the hardware, there are platforms that allow you to rent hashrate. Learn how to use popular hashrate rental platform NiceHash to mine with f2pool here.

Mine more efficiently

The lower the unit power consumption compared to the hashrate, the higher the mining efficiency.

The latest ASIC models can reach a unit power of about 30-40 W/T and achieve electricity cost rates of less than 50%.

For some old-gen rigs, miners will sometimes have to temporarily turn their devices off or flush the firmware to underclock them for lower power consumption when the bitcoin price makes them unprofitable to run under normal conditions.

Check out the f2pool Popular Miners page for detailed information such as hashrate and power consumption for Bitcoin mining machines.

How do I set up the software and create an account?

Step 1: Create a wallet address

Creating a wallet address is always the first step when diving into a new blockchain network. You’ll need a wallet address to check and receive payouts to mine Bitcoin with f2pool.

You can choose to run a full node as a wallet or use another wallet solution. An extensive list of wallet options is available on the Bitcoin.org website. You can also choose an exchange address. Note: You should always do your own due diligence when choosing a wallet provider or exchange.

Step 2: Create an f2pool account

You’ll need to create an f2pool account before mining Bitcoin. If you don’t have one yet, please click here to register.

Set an account_name. This will be required for configuration. You are free to create multiple subaccounts to monitor your workers/miners.

Now add your Bitcoin wallet address created in Step 1 and enter it in your Payout Settings. You can set a payout threshold and check hashrate changes and your rewards once you start contributing mining power.

You can add or change your payout address in your Payout Settings. f2pool distributes mining revenues on a daily basis to every user who reaches the payout threshold.

Step 3: Configuration

Now that you have a wallet and an f2pool account name, you can proceed to configure your mining device.

ASIC miners are the easiest mining devices to use compared to GPUs and CPUs, which are no longer profitable for mining bitcoin. No mining software is required to be run on your computer. All you need is the proper electricity setup to meet the power consumption requirements and a reliable internet connection.

Please note that your ASICs should have a wired connection to your local network and that your computer and your ASICs should be on the same network.

Use any modern browser that accesses the IP address of your machine, then connect to an f2pool server. You’ll need to enter the following information into your mining device:

URL: stratum+tcp://btc.f2pool.com:3333

Username: account_name.worker_name

Password: Your choice

Please note

1. Alternative ports can be used for the server. Please refer to the backup ports in the pool URL lists following the example configuration.

2. Your account_name is provided in your Account Settings.

3. worker_name is optional, but we recommend labeling each of your mining devices with a separate worker_name for more efficient monitoring.

Example configuration

A miner with the mining account username oceanminer and a worker named bigfish1 who wants to connect to our pool server would configure his device as follows:

URL: stratum+tcp://btc.f2pool.com:3333

Username: oceanminer.bigfish1

Password: 123456

There are general and region URLs that you may choose from:

General:

stratum+tcp://btc.f2pool.com:1314 (Backup: 25,3333)

Asia:

stratum+tcp://btc-asia.f2pool.com:1314 (Backup: 25,1315,3333)

ASICs take just a few steps to configure. Once you’ve configured your device and saved your settings, you’re ready to start mining and earning rewards. You are not locked into f2pool and can enter and exit the pool freely at any time. However, you will only earn mining rewards from f2pool while connected to an f2pool server.

How do I check my rewards?

Now that you’ve started mining, you can calculate the revenue your devices are generating. We’ll also give you an overview of how fees and payouts work with f2pool.

Check the block reward on-chain

Visit the Bitcoin block explorer to get a better understanding of the decentralized world you’re powering with your hashrate. Input your wallet and transaction details to find on-chain information, such as payouts from f2pool.

Calculate what you can earn

Measure your revenue

The number of coins you can earn is primarily based on how much hashrate you have. You can measure your estimated daily revenue by using your Thash/s to calculate the number of coins you can mine and then multiply this number by the current exchange rate for your target currency (e.g. USD or EUR). You can use this hashrate conversion tool if you prefer units other than Thash/s.

Factors affecting profits

At any given bitcoin price, the biggest factor influencing your profits is your costs, which are highly dependent on your mining machines. As such, electricity and the overall cost of your hardware are the main factors that influence your costs.

Mining difficulty, payout schemes, and fees can also affect your profits.

f2pool calculator tool

You can use our calculator tool to easily estimate your potential revenue from popular mining machines.

Verify your payouts from f2pool

Once your device has started mining and submitting data to the pool, you can access real-time reward records from f2pool.

View your records

As long as your miner is submitting your hashrate successfully, you will receive payouts from f2pool.

To view your real-time Bitcoin mining payout records, visit the f2pool website and sign in to view your records.

The f2pool app is also a convenient option for checking your rewards.

How f2pool calculates rewards

For mining Bitcoin, users can choose a payout scheme of FPPS (Full Pay Per Share) with a 4% commission rate or PPLNS (Pay Per Last N Share) with a 2% commission rate. When the balance in your account reaches the minimum threshold, you will receive a payout within 24 hours. Users can select a payout threshold from 0.005 (default) / 0.01 / 0.05 / 1 / 5 BTC in their payout settings.

Details about our payout schemes and fees can be found here.

Increase your earnings

We want to introduce merged mining as a way to help you get the most out of your mining activities.

Merged mining

Merged mining is “The act of using work done on one blockchain on more than one chain. In other words, merged mining enables you to receive mining rewards for multiple coins without adding any extra hashrate or diminishing your rewards for the primary coin you are interested in mining (such as Bitcoin).

When you mine Bitcoin with f2pool, you can receive payouts from several different merged mining coins.

For example, to receive free Hathor (HTR), from mining Bitcoin, you will need to obtain an HTR wallet address from the official page or KuCoin. The reward ratio is 90 HTR for each BTC mined.

There are also other merged mining coins you can add to your account. Go to your Payout Settings to set up your payout addresses for merged mining coins.

There are two more steps for enabling these rewards: 1. Verifying via SMS or two-factor authentication, and 2. Activating a link sent to the email address linked to your f2pool account.

Start mining today!

Now that you have all the info you need, it’s time to start securing the network!

If you run into any problems mining Bitcoin, please feel free to reach out to our customer service team at support@f2pool.com, open a support ticket, or start a conversation on Reddit or Discord.

Adjustment to the payout freeze period after modifying wallet addresses

Starting on 2023-10-10 00:00 UTC, f2pool users will experience a shorter freeze period for the payout functionality after modifying their wallet addresses. After modifying an address, payouts for mining rewards will be frozen for 24 hours starting from the day after the modification (previously 72 hours). DYNEX

Dynex (DNX) mining pool launched at f2pool

f2pool has officially launched the Dynex (DNX) mining pool! Dynex is a neuromorphic supercomputing blockchain based on the DynexSolve chip algorithm, which uses a Proof-of-Useful-Work (PoUW) approach to solving real-world problems. It supports mining with GPUs that have a RAM of no less than 3GB.

Our DNX mining pool applies a 1% PPLNS payout scheme. To start mining, users need to add both types of stratum and mallob URLs to the command lines of their chosen software. Please select a pair according to your location:

North America

stratum+tcp://dnx-na.f2pool.com:6300 (stratum)

dnx-mallob-na.f2pool.com:6380 (mallob)

Asia

stratum+tcp://dnx-asia.f2pool.com:6300 (stratum)

dnx-mallob-asia.f2pool.com:6380 (mallob)

For configuration, please refer to the detailed tutorial.

Since our DNX pool was designed for login-free mining, registrations are not required. Users should use a DNX wallet address for mining, inquiring about mining data, and receiving rewards. Do not use the DNX deposit address on exchanges for mining as exchanges do not currently support direct deposit of DNX mining rewards. This could result in a loss of income that cannot be recovered. For selecting a mining wallet address, you can use the mobile or GUI wallet listed on the DNX official wallet webpage.

f2pool launches Bitcoin Transaction Accelerator

f2pool has launched the Bitcoin Transaction Accelerator, which helps speed up on-chain Bitcoin transactions. Users can pay for acceleration on this page by entering the transaction ID that needs to be accelerated.

Before using the accelerator, you will need to register an f2pool account and deposit funds into your U Account for payment. Currently, only USDT payment is supported. After submission, you can view the specific information in the “Acceleration Records section.

Please note:

1. When depositing USDT, please double-check the network type, minimum deposit amount, and wallet address to avoid asset loss.

2. Confirm the transaction ID and fee before submitting it for acceleration, and complete the payment before the quotation countdown ends. Once submitted successfully, it cannot be canceled or refunded.

3. Acceleration is not supported for some transactions, such as Bitcoin Ordinals, and feedback of “Transaction does not exist. indicates that it cannot be accelerated.

4. The accelerator is currently only available on the desktop website. Please use it on f2pool.com.

5. The accelerator is only available after logging in. Please make sure you have completed account registration and added two-factor authentication.

6. f2pool collaborates with multiple mining pools. If any of these pools produces a block, your transaction will be accelerated. Since the time of finding blocks by pools cannot be predicted, the transaction acceleration time cannot be estimated.

IRON FISH

IRON payout has begun, memo format addresses are supported

Our daily IRON payouts have started on 2023-04-23, and we now support memo format addresses. Please ensure that you check your address carefully before adding it. Once added, payouts will automatically occur once the payout threshold is reached.

If you haven’t added a wallet address yet, please set it up in your account settings by following this tutorial. For security reasons, the payout will pause for three days after any changes to a wallet address (newly created accounts within 7 days will not be affected).

Please note that if you need to add a memo format address for IRON payouts, make sure to add your memo after your wallet address, separating it from the address with a dot (Example: IRONaddress.Memo). Using an incorrect format will result in the loss of your funds and cannot be recovered.

If your IRON payouts are frozen due to a change in your wallet address before 2023-04-28 00:00 UTC, at 00:00 UTC, f2pool can manually unfreeze it for you. To apply, please reach out to the f2pool customer service channel and set the title as follows: IRON withdrawal + your f2pool subaccount name (apply for one account/subaccount at a time).

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at support@f2pool.com or open a support ticket.

BITCOIN

PPLNS payout scheme now available for BTC mining at f2pool

f2pool has introduced PPLNS as an option for BTC mining payout schemes. Users can now select between PPS+ (default) and PPLNS for their BTC mining on each mining account. The payout scheme can only be changed once a day, and will take effect at 00:00 UTC the following day. Please refer to this guide.

With PPLNS, the mining pool calculates mining rewards based on the actual blocks mined by the pool. The revenues will be influenced by the pool’s luck value. As a result, the daily mining rewards a miner receives may fluctuate significantly, while the long-term rewards are anticipated to be consistent with the theoretical rewards. To learn more about PPLNS, refer to this post.

ZILLIQA

Zilliqa mining contest launched, 500,000 ZIL total prize pool to win at f2pool

We are happy to announce our Zilliqa mining pool and our limited-time Zilliqa mining contest!

From 2023-03-15 00:00 UTC to 2023-04-04 00:00 UTC, the Top 20 users by daily average hashrate mining ETC+ZIL at f2pool, can receive rewards in proportion to their total hashrate contribution from a prize pool of 500,000 ZIL.

Please note that anonymous and cloud mining are excluded from this mining contest. f2pool reserves all rights for the final explanations for this event.

Zilliqa is a blockchain that enables and scales decentralized apps, from financial services to NFT marketplaces. It uses Proof of Work mining for Sybil resistance and Practical Byzantine Fault Tolerance for consensus, and is commonly dual-mined with ETC.

Our Zilliqa pool is currently dual-mined with Ethereum Classic, with 1% PPLNS as the payout scheme for ZIL, and 1% PPS for ETC. Due to the nature of Zilliqa’s mining mechanism, you may mine 1 minute of ZIL every 1 to 2 hours, and use your hashrate for ETC mining for the rest of the time. Please use the server URL stratum+tcp://etc-zil.f2pool.com:6200 in your configuration.

Zilliqa supports GPUs and ASICs. Some available ETC ASICs including ForestMiner, iPollo, Pandaminer, and so on, while Antminer, Innosilicon, Jasminer, Tibit, and YAMI’s ETC mining machines are currently not available. Click here for mining guides.

ALEO

Clarification regarding Aleo testnet 3 mining rewards

f2pool calculates the Aleo testnet 3 mining rewards based on the Incentives part displayed on its official explorer. “Incentives stands for rewards for miners, while “Coinbase stands for the total block rewards. “Incentives is about 20% of “Coinbase. Thus, the differences in standards will result in different rewards displayed on different mining pools. However, the results of two standards will be finally translated to basically the same amount of rewards that you receive afterward.

f2pool applies a calculating method based on Incentives and shows you the numbers that are closer to the actual Aleo rewards. Read more about Aleo incentivized rules.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at support@f2pool.com or open a support ticket.

ALEO

Mining on Aleo testnet 3 is available at f2pool

f2pool has launched the mining services on Aleo testnet 3, as the incentivized testnet stage has been activated.

Mining rewards will be settled daily as credits, according to the payout scheme of PPLNS, and then accrue in your f2pool account. Adding of wallets and reward withdrawals are currently not supported, we will send payouts according to Aleo’s follow-up post about the details of the incentives. Please stay tuned for our further announcement.

Aleo is a new layer-1 blockchain platform for creating scalable and private applications applying zero-knowledge cryptography, by using a hybrid consensus architecture named AleoBFT, which leverages PoS to achieve instant finality for block confirmation. It leverages PoW “coinbase puzzle that rewards the development of faster techniques for proof generation.

Currently, you may mine on Aleo testnet 3 with your Nvidia GPUs at f2pool. Please refer to this guide for the requirements and configuration.

Please kindly note that, in order to receive incentivized testnet rewards, KYC process is required after launching the mainnet. If f2pool cannot pass through KYC by the Aleo project team, we will not be eligible to receive rewards from the network and thus cannot distribute them to you. Also, we will restrict our services to the regions that are under Aleo official’s restriction, for more information please check here.

Adjusting the Transaction fees of ETH payouts

The London Hardfork has implemented a fundamental change in Ethereum’s new fee structure. Due to these changes, the costs of sending on-chain payouts have increased significantly. We have thus decided to adjust the transaction fees of ETH mining revenue payouts starting August 18, 2021 0:00 UTC. The fee per transaction will be deducted before daily payments and will be recorded on your revenue page.

ETHEREUM

Upcoming Ethereum’s London hardfork

The Ethereum network will perform an upgrade on block height 12,965,000, which is estimated to happen at about 12:00, August 5, 2021, UTC. We’ve upgraded our node and set up Flashbots MEV, as Ethereum miners with F2Pool you do not need to do anything specifically for the upgrade.

After the upgrade, the fixed block reward will remain the same, however, the gas fee structure will be adjusted to “BaseFee + Tips. The BaseFee in each block will be burned and the Tips will still be a part of the miner’s income. Due to the fees burned, there will be possible decreases in fees. As fees are a result of network activity, this is usually hard to estimate since it’s subject to the actual gas fees mined.

The London upgrade will also push back the difficulty bomb to December 2021. Before the bomb is triggered, you may continue taking part in Ethereum mining.

If you have any questions, please contact our support team at support@f2pool.com or open a support ticket.

ETHEREUM

Ethereum DAG file size will reach 4 GB on December 25

The Ethereum DAG file size is estimated to reach 4 GB on December 25, 2020 at 2:00 UTC. After that, mining Ethereum with 4GB GPUs or ASICs will be affected. Miners can refer to the following ways to deal with the change:

1. Use software like Bminer v16.4, lolMiner or Teamredminer. Both of these support continued mining of ETH with 4 GB memory devices but with some loss of hashrate, since every time the epoch file grows in a 4 - 5 day cycle, the hashrate will decrease slightly.

2. Modify your GPU’s onboard memory units. Find a reliable service provider to change the miner’s memory units to a higher capacity to continue mining ETH.

3. Switch to other networks with your current, unmodified hardware. 4 GB GPUs will continue work on mining other coins such as BEAM, RVN, SERO, and ETC. You may refer to the f2pool Popular Miners page to see revenue information on different networks.

BCH

Our handling of the BCH hard fork upgrade

BCH (Bitcoin Cash) will undergo a network upgrade on November 15, 2020 at about 12:00 UTC. The upgrade may result in two different chains and additional tokens due to the differences of opinion between two main BCH clients, Bitcoin Cash ABC (BCHA) and Bitcoin Cash Node (BCHN).

We will take the following steps to ensure the security of our users’ assets:

1. When the upgrade completes, our BCH pool will be transitioned to a BCHN pool.

2. Starting from 23:40 UTC on November 14, 2020, BCH mining as part of the BTC Profit-Switching (SHA256d) pool will be suspended. BSV and BTC mining will remain available.

3. Due to the lack of transaction replay protection and the risk of on-chain transactions during the upgrade, BCH payouts will be paused from November 15 on.

4. If the upgrade results in additional tokens, we will credit them at a ratio of 1:1 based on BCH balances on November 15, 2020 at 12:00 UTC.

5. When the upgrade completes and the chains stabilize, we will release further announcements about when we will resume payouts and BCH mining in the BTC Profit-Switching (SHA256d) pool, our support for BCHA mining, the distribution of new tokens, etc.

4G GPU cards to stop being supported for mining ETH on Windows

As the size of the Ethereum blockchain continues to increase, ETH mining requires GPU cards with more memory to store DAG files. Starting from about October 17, 2020 UTC, it will no longer be possible to mine ETH with 4G GPU cards on Windows machines.

In order to continue mining with 4G GPU cards, please try one of the solutions below.

1. Switch to Linux or a dedicated mining operating system. ETH can be mined with 4G GPU cards using these operating systems until the end of December 2020.

2. Increase memory size to 8GB to avoid future problems caused by the increasing size of the DAG file.

3. Start mining other coins, such as BEAM, RVN, SERO, etc. You can check the daily revenue of these coins here before making a decision.

Optimization for checking mining revenue

We have made an optimization for checking mining revenue. “24 Hours Revenue has been replaced with “Yesterday’s Revenue to make the process more convenient.

In f2pool’s previous revenue data, “24 Hours Revenue was defined as your revenue from 24 hours previous up to the time you checked the data. Our users often mistook it for the previous day’s revenue.

After collecting opinions from miners, we removed “24 Hours Revenue from our revenue data and replaced it with “Yesterday’s Revenue to increase the accuracy and effectiveness of the data. Now, “Yesterday’s Revenue stands for the previous day’s revenue, on a settlement day (payouts circle) basis.

Compensation Due to Abnormality of ETH Pool on August 16, 2020

We had an abnormality in our ETH pool during an upgrade from 9:30 to 11:00 UTC on August 16, 2020. Some ETH miners who were mining with a username encountered hashrate declines or disconnections.

To recover losses, we have decided to recalculate the revenue of the affected miners in terms of their actual hashrate during this period and make compensation. The relevant data has been collected, recalculation has been completed, and the compensation will be distributed into affected accounts on August 20, 2020 UTC.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding. We continue to provide a reliable mining pool service.

f2pool Supports PPS+ Payment Method for ETH Wallet Address Mining

From 2020-08-01, f2pool will support the PPS+ payment method for ETH wallet address mining. Miners who use a wallet address to mine ETH will now also get a share of the mining fee, as a bonus.

PPS+ is a combination of two models, PPS and PPLNS. The block reward is settled according to PPS, and the transaction fee is settled according to the PPLNS model. It means that with PPS+, the miner obtains additional income from a portion of the transaction fee based on PPLNS.

For coins that have growing transaction fees, adopting the PPS+ method helps miners increase their revenue.

Solutions to Issues of Mining ETH On 4G GPU Cards

Some 4 GB GPU mining cards have encountered issues, including lower than expected hashrate, errors in the mining software and disconnections while mining ETH.

As the ETH Epoch continues to increase, ETH mining requires GPU cards with a larger memory space to store DAG files. Claymore’s latest version is no longer able to support ETH mining on 4 GB GPU cards anymore. This has caused some miners using Claymore and 4 GB GPU cards to have issues mining ETH.

In response to this problem, many mining software providers have provided solutions:

Bminer and PhoenixMiner have already optimized their mining software and miners can continue mining ETH on 4 GB GPU cards using the latest version of Bminer and PhoenixMiner.

f2pool Global Meetups: Moscow Event Highlights

Last week, on the 24th of August, f2pool hosted its first meetup in Moscow. We chose Moscow as the first stop in the Global series not just for the welcoming and friendly people, but also for the large and enthusiastic mining community who we were extremely excited to meet! As a world-leading mining pool we appreciate the importance in providing a high-quality service for our miners and by organizing such meetup events we can give our miners an unforgettable experience and a chance to meet and connect with like-minded individuals.

More than 100 people attended the event, visiting from all over Russia and nearby countries, with a myriad of backgrounds and interests in the crypto world. Our attendees ranged from miners, mining hardware manufacturers and those that work for exchanges, to simply people interested and eager to learn more about mining. The event was divided into two main parts. The first half of the event involved presentations from guest speakers about their area of work. Delving into details about some of the most eagerly anticipated projects of this year, which sparked a lot of curiosity from our attendees and was met with thought-provoking questions.
